Bill & Michelle Cayard
The Cayards work with the registered church in China. They have helped facilitate the start of new churches and in the training of pastors and lay leaders. With the Chinese Church growing at a rapid pace, leadership training is one of the biggest needs.
“The church is growing faster than leadership can keep up with,” Bill said. “The Bible college in Sichuan province is graduating about 30 pastors each year to serve a regional population of over 200 million. The majority of registered congregations are led by bi-vocational lay leaders in desperate need of increased opportunities for Bible and theological training."
The Cayards encourage churches in the United States to partner with Chinese churches through ministry training. Training is needed in many different areas – church administration, Vacation Bible School, women’s ministry, music ministry, lay leadership and outreach. They also are encouraging and equipping local Chinese pastors in their ministry, and offer English classes as community outreach and English Sunday school in their local church.
“One of the most important parts of our ministry is connecting congregations in the United States with churches in China," Michelle said. "This can be such a great relationship on both sides. The Chinese Christians receive tremendous encouragement from knowing that brothers and sisters from other countries care about their work and care about their ministries."
