There are four types of volunteer opportunities in Hospitality. Please select the drop down menu to see each type. Responsibilities for each hospitality type are also listed below.
Hospitality Station Manager Responsibilities: Answer attendees' questions about Assembly, facilitate finding unknown information, greet people, and keep the Hospitality Station notebook organized and updated. This is a low level impact position. Some walking may be required. Hospitality Station Managers should be gracious, patient, polite under pressure, comfortable seeking information, and organized. Volunteers are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes and clothing.
Gathering Place Greeter Responsibilities: The Gathering Place Greeters engage people coming in and out of The Gathering Place, distribute The Gathering Place maps, assist people in locating key areas of The Gathering Place, encourage visitors to see as many vendors as possible, and funnel people to Information Stations for further assistance. This is a low level impact position. The Gathering Place Greeters are seated for the duration of their shift; Some walking may be required. Volunteers should be energetic, gracious, patient, polite under pressure, and comfortable engaging strangers. Volunteers are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes and clothing.
Responsibilities of a Human Directional: Directionals are stationed in high traffic areas to answer questions, greet, encourage and assist attendees with questions or problems. This is a medium impact position. Directionals stand for the duration of their shift. Volunteers should be energetic, gracious, patient, polite under pressure, and comfortable engaging strangers. Volunteers are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes and clothing.
Usher Responsibilities: Greet and engage attendees, and monitor entrances before start of event, invokes positivity during waiting period, guides attendees to exits or provides other instructions, or assistance in the case of emergency. This is a medium impact level position. Ushers stand during waiting period to enter event, move quickly and safely during an emergency. Ushers should be energetic, gracious, patient, polite under pressure, comfortable engaging strangers, ability to stay calm and provide leadership during an emergency. Ushers are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes and clothing.

All hospitality volunteers should arrive at their post 10 minutes prior to their shift to store belongings and become oriented with their tasks. Volunteers should keep assigned area(s) tidy during the day, if applicable. Volunteers should reset assigned area(s) before closing, if applicable.
