RSS Feed

What is RSS? feed-icon

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. It is a standard format for Web sites to describe the articles or other information available on their sites to other Web sites or computer programs. RSS is frequently used by Web logs (so called blogs) to list the most recent postings.

Does CBF have an RSS feed?

Yes. The orange icon above is a link to our RSS feed. Currently the feed includes the 20 most recent news articles in the archive.

So, how do I use RSS?

Individuals can use the RSS feed to know when new news articles have been posted to the Fellowship's Web site without needing to go to the home page. Typically, you will install a program called a "news reader" or a "feed reader" on your computer. There are many different readers available, most are stand-alone programs, but some work as an add-in to your e-mail client or Web browser. You then "subscribe" to the feed by giving your reader the address of the RSS feed mentioned above.

Churches can use the RSS feed to include CBF news headlines on their church Web site. You may need a small amount of custom programming to include the RSS feed on your site. Unfortunately, because Web sites are based on so many different types of operating systems and programming languages, the CBF is not able to provide programming assistance. The original programmer who created your site should be able to assist you.
